DESCRIPTION:Conference organized by our member ASSOLOMBARDA on September 24\, 2025 at 1 p.m.\, at Pirelli‘s headquarters in Settimo Torinese (TO). \nThe automotive sector is going through a phase of profound transition. Recent data published by ANFIA (Associazione Nazionale Filiera Industria Automobilistica) show\, even at the beginning of 2025\, a significant slowdown in production in Italy: -25.3 percent overall\, with a 37 percent drop in the manufacture of motor vehicles and a 15.4 percent drop in the production of parts\, accessories and engines.  \nThese are signs that confirm the need for a strategic rethink to effectively accompany the sector along a path of technological\, industrial and environmental transformation.\nThe Automotive Action Plan\, presented by the European Commission on March 5\, is a first step in this direction\, but it still lacks concrete and timely measures\, as well as an organic strategy capable of strengthening the competitiveness of the European automotive industry\, aligning energy costs with those of its main global competitors and introducing long-term structural interventions. \nConfidential event\, by invitation only. SUMMARY:INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT OF BRIDGE SAFETY: STRUCTURAL AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC RISK - University of Brescia
DESCRIPTION:As part of the MOST SPOKE 7 “CCAM and Smart Infrastructure\,” on September 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with light lunch\, theUniversity of Brescia is organizing the Workshop INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT OF BRIDGE SAFETY: STRUCTURAL AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC RISK\, at the Aula Magna of Economics\, Via San Faustino 74\, Brescia. \nBridges are among the most vulnerable elements of road networks\, as they are subject to stresses of various kinds that can cause damage that may require their closure or\, in the worst case\, cause their collapse. The inability of a bridge has a major impact on mobility\, increasing travel times\, congesting traffic and hindering the transport of goods. Among the main risk factors\, heavy traffic and structural deterioration pose a growing threat to bridge safety\, especially in settings with dated infrastructure and vehicular loads that often exceed design limits.   \nThe workshop will open with a framing of the infrastructure management activities conducted at the national level in MOST’s Spoke7 “CCAM and Smart Infrastructure\,” and then focus on the activities of the UniBS Working Group\, with the aim of developing an innovative method for real-time assessment and management of heavy traffic risk on bridges. The project integrates multidisciplinary expertise from transportation\, structural\, network and telecommunications engineering\, as well as statistical analysis and operations research tools.  \nThe monitoring system involves the use of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) devices to measure the load of passing vehicles and sensors to analyze the structural response. A pilot bridge\, located along Brescia’s Tangenziale Sud\, one of the roads with the most heavy traffic in Italy\, has been instrumented to collect data useful for calibrating probabilistic risk models.\nThe proposed approach allows not only for real-time estimation of the risk induced by heavy traffic\, but also for simulation of heavy vehicle detour actions prior to transit over the monitored bridge. Algorithms to optimize alternative routes and maintenance strategies aimed at risk reduction for reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges are also provided.\nThe workshop will provide an opportunity for experts in the field to discuss innovative solutions for road infrastructure safety and management.   \nParticipation in the seminar is free of charge. SUMMARY:BALANCES OF STEEL - Villa Fenaroli\, Rezzato (BS)
DESCRIPTION:2024 was a complex year for the Italian and international steel sector: falling demand\, declining prices\, geopolitical and regulatory uncertainty. How did companies in the domestic steel supply chain react? What was the impact of companies’ strategies on the accounts? And what are the prospects for the near future?    \nTo answer these questions\, siderweb\, for the seventeenth year\, has conducted the “Steel Balance Sheets” study \, analyzing income statements and balance sheets of more than 5\,000 corporations active in steel production\, distribution of steel products\, service centers\, sheet metal cutting and processing\, steel scrap and raw material trading\, and steel processing industries. \nThe results of the research\, carried out by siderweb\, will be presented on November 17 in Brescia (Villa Fenaroli) from 11:00 am. Speakers in the morning will include Cristian Carini (University of Brescia)\, Claudio Teodori (University of Brescia) and Gianfranco Tosini (siderweb) to analyze the results achieved by companies in 2024 and the prospects for the two-year period 2025-2026.   This will be followed by a talk by Andrea Del Moretto (BPER Corporate & Investment Banking)\, entitled “Banks and steel: resilient allies to overcome cyclical challenges in the sector.” The morning will close with the presentation of “Steel Balance Sheet” awards.  \nIn the afternoon\, however\, a discussion and reflection on some of the most topical issues in the debate that is animating the European and Italian steel sector will be staged. Operators from the entire steel supply chain will confront each other in a round table dedicated to the challenges for 2026: from demand prospects to news related to trade defense in Europe. The debate will be moderated by Francesca Morandi (siderweb) with the participation of Flavio Bregant (Federacciai)\, Cinzia Vezzosi (Assofermet)\, Antonello Mordeglia (Danieli) and Davide Conte (Fincantieri).   \nFor the Cluster\, President Dr. Saverio Gaboardi will participate. \n
