DESCRIPTION:As part of the MOST SPOKE 7 “CCAM and Smart Infrastructure\,” on September 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with light lunch\, theUniversity of Brescia is organizing the Workshop INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT OF BRIDGE SAFETY: STRUCTURAL AND VEHICLE TRAFFIC RISK\, at the Aula Magna of Economics\, Via San Faustino 74\, Brescia. \nBridges are among the most vulnerable elements of road networks\, as they are subject to stresses of various kinds that can cause damage that may require their closure or\, in the worst case\, cause their collapse. The inability of a bridge has a major impact on mobility\, increasing travel times\, congesting traffic and hindering the transport of goods. Among the main risk factors\, heavy traffic and structural deterioration pose a growing threat to bridge safety\, especially in settings with dated infrastructure and vehicular loads that often exceed design limits.   \nThe workshop will open with a framing of the infrastructure management activities conducted at the national level in MOST’s Spoke7 “CCAM and Smart Infrastructure\,” and then focus on the activities of the UniBS Working Group\, with the aim of developing an innovative method for real-time assessment and management of heavy traffic risk on bridges. The project integrates multidisciplinary expertise from transportation\, structural\, network and telecommunications engineering\, as well as statistical analysis and operations research tools.  \nThe monitoring system involves the use of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) devices to measure the load of passing vehicles and sensors to analyze the structural response. A pilot bridge\, located along Brescia’s Tangenziale Sud\, one of the roads with the most heavy traffic in Italy\, has been instrumented to collect data useful for calibrating probabilistic risk models.\nThe proposed approach allows not only for real-time estimation of the risk induced by heavy traffic\, but also for simulation of heavy vehicle detour actions prior to transit over the monitored bridge. Algorithms to optimize alternative routes and maintenance strategies aimed at risk reduction for reinforced and prestressed concrete bridges are also provided.\nThe workshop will provide an opportunity for experts in the field to discuss innovative solutions for road infrastructure safety and management.   \nParticipation in the seminar is free of charge. Recent data published by ANFIA (Associazione Nazionale Filiera Industria Automobilistica) show\, even at the beginning of 2025\, a significant slowdown in production in Italy: -25.3 percent overall\, with a 37 percent drop in the manufacture of motor vehicles and a 15.4 percent drop in the production of parts\, accessories and engines.  \nThese are signs that confirm the need for a strategic rethink to effectively accompany the sector along a path of technological\, industrial and environmental transformation.\nThe Automotive Action Plan\, presented by the European Commission on March 5\, is a first step in this direction\, but it still lacks concrete and timely measures\, as well as an organic strategy capable of strengthening the competitiveness of the European automotive industry\, aligning energy costs with those of its main global competitors and introducing long-term structural interventions. \nConfidential event\, by invitation only. DESCRIPTION:The G.RO.C -Group Community Rotary Safety Road for Life\, Italy- is organizing the National Conference on Road Safety\, an event of national importance\, which in past years we have held in other cities and this year will be held in Brescia\, Saturday \, June 14\, 2025 starting at 9:00 a.m. at theSan Barnaba Auditorium\, Corso Magenta 44 in Brescia. The Minister of Transportation\, will speak\, telematically\, in the morning.  \nThe conference aims to bring together representatives of the business world\, experts in the field\, institutions\, law enforcement\, citizens and the media to address together the crucial issue of road safety. \nFor the Cluster\, President Dr. Saverio Gaboardi will participate. \n

DESCRIPTION:This year’s public conference will be titled “Italian foundries in the European context: what industrial policies?” (click here to download the program). \nIn a global landscape redefined by geopolitical instability and new protectionism\, European industry and Italian foundries face in this 2025 not only the challenges typical of hard-to-abate sectors (from energy costs to the path to decarbonization) but also a slowing market characterized by high uncertainty and\, indeed\, a changing global environment. \nTo discuss these crucial issues\, speakers during the conference will include Chiara Danieli (president EFF – European Foundry Federation)\, who will outline the situation of our industry at the European level\, Gianclaudio Torlizzi (T-Commodity)\, who will talk about“Raw materials and protectionism: new unknowns for European industry\,” and Massimo Beccarello (University of Milan-Bicocca)\, who will discuss“Energy and competitiveness: how to overcome the cost knot to boost European industry.” \nThis will be followed by a panel discussion among the speakers with the participation ofHon. Reserved exclusively for Associates\, the private session includes an institutional moment of fundamental importance: the official appointment of the new president of Confindustria Brescia for the four-year period 2025-2029\, by electronic voting through the Eligo system.
