SUMMARY:Economy of the Sea 2024 Boating\, tourism and education: the "blue" push for the country's growth - July 4/5 Genoa
DESCRIPTION:The maritime supply chain with its 228\,000 enterprises is a strategic sector of the Italian economy. According to the latest “Report on the Economy of the Sea: the National and Territorial Dimension of Development” by the Chamber of Commerce of Frosinone and Latina\, it is worth 52.4 billion euros (3.3 percent of the total national economy) and employs nearly 914 thousand people (3.6 percent of total employment). Steady growth in recent years that still has untapped potential\, which the government wants to boost with the Sea Plan\, but which at this historical juncture is put at serious risk by Middle Eastern instability with the Red Sea crisis and\, especially in the case of the Adriatic ports\, the continuing Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The third edition of Economy of the Sea will put institutions and businesses at the same table to analyze the current situation and future prospects of our Blue Economy without forgetting the opportunities and issues related to sustainability and energy transition. \nWith its 13 million passengers landed in Italian ports in 2023 and growth prospects for 2024\, cruise tourism is confirmed as a winning asset of our country’s economy. In addition to being the top destination country\, Italy is also the one where there is the greatest economic impact\, with 15 billion euros out of the 60 generated in Europe by the cruise industry\, and employment. Not only that: the plus sign also characterized 2023 in recreational boating\, which had a record year for sales\, exports and employment. A positive trend that can only continue to grow if we invest in training. Businesses\, institutions and experts will discuss this in the first Economy of the Sea 2024 event. An afternoon of work that will open the two-day event dedicated to Italy as a nation of the sea. \nHybrid event: in attendance on July 4 Preview at the Aquarium of Genoa\, Salone Blu h:17.30-19.30(PROGRAM_4July)\, and on July 5 on board the Costa Smeralda cruise ship\, h:10 a.m.-3 p.m.(PROGRAM_5July). Live online connection possible. \nFor the cluster\, Eng. Sara Cortese will participate by liaison. \nFor more information: LINK_ECONOMY_OF_THE_SEA
